Platinum, Dynamically priced, and resale tickets.

Post by toast »

The mark up on platinum / dynamic tickets are not allowed to be passed on here!

The additional fees associated with using other resale platforms are not allowed to be passed on here!

... even when these costs are branded as a face value, or booking fees by the sites in question.

The priority of Toutless has always been to provide a place for fans to sell to fans at face value. The face value is the original advertised cost of the ticket on a "primary seller" (ie Ticketmaster).

Within this we've allowed "booking fees" to be added alongside the face value, understanding that there is no way of avoiding these charges when buying tickets in the modern world.

What we have never allowed is the reselling of a ticket that has already been marked up by a tout. Even if you've not made a profit on that sale... someone did, you enabled them to do so, and you're now introducing these overpriced tickets to our users. Users who are here to avoid that.

In recent years there's been an attempt by primary sellers to profiteer further on tickets. These come under different names. Platinum tickets and / or dynamic tickets being the current term being used. These are tickets that are in no way different to other tickets in the venue, other than they are now being charged far more for than the original costs of the tickets.

Additionally, the same primary sellers have also created a resale market. Unlike Toutless, they charge for the use of it in the form of additional ticket fees on top of the original fees. This might not seem like much for cheaper tickets, but it can be 30/40 euro extra for some festival tickets and the like.

Both the mark up on platinum / dynamic tickets or the additional cost of other resale platforms are not allowed to be passed on here... even when these costs are branded as a face value, or booking fees by the sites in question.

You are more than welcome to list these tickets on the site at the equivalent cost of the standard ticket. If you attempt to charge the marked up price you will banned. WE DO NOT issue warnings before a ban. We've seen far too many people who arm chance, and "accidentally" list for higher prices as a method of trying to work around moderation. Ignorance is not a defence.

If you wish to swap a Platinum/Resale ticket or receive a Platinum/Resale ticket in exchange for a swap it has to be considered as the equivalent non marked up ticket when calculating any difference in value for what you are swapping the ticket for.

VIP packages that DO offer something different to a regular ticket, can be sold at the price they cost (assuming that is also a fixed price and not a dynamic or platinum price). This assumes that the VIP extras are actually transferable without pretending to be someone you are not. If the extras are not transferable these will be considered the same as a platinum/dynamic ticket and disallowed from being sold at the higher price.

If you are somehow angry about any of this, our advice is to NOT buy these tickets in the first place. You are enabling the expectation that tickets should go to whoever is richest. This is the exact sort of nonsense we started the site to avoid.

If you are unsure what sort of ticket you have and if you can list it, please reach out to a moderator. https://www.toutless.com/memberlist.php?mode=team

Un-transferable tickets and you.

Ticketmaster recently updated their mobile ticket technology to use barcodes that refresh every minute. This prevents screenshots of these tickets from working,

The only way to transfer these tickets is to use the Ticketmaster transfer ticket option. Ticketmaster have a help page discussing how to do this here. https://www.ticketmaster.ie/mobile-tickets-intro

However it has come to our attention that this transfer feature is not always available.
Sometimes it is only available at a set time before the event.
Sometimes it is available to some people but not others. The criteria for who gets it and who doesn't is unclear.
Sometimes it NEVER BECOMES AVAILABLE.

With this sort of tickets the ability to transfer a ticket is in the control of the Artist / Promoter. Ticketmaster provide the technology to limit the expectation of being able to transfer a ticket.

This change impacts people's ability to simply send a ticket as a present, or to a friend they can't meet on the night or to resell it on a site like Toutless until transfer is available (if it is ever available).

As we can not know in advance which events or which users will have this option available we've requested people DO NOT exchange money until such time as a transfer option is available. Even in the best of intentions if you transfer money in the hope of the option becoming available months in advance there's a chance people will not be available to make the transfer IF it becomes available.

As we do not know the status or future status of every event in this regards we leave it UP TO YOU to ensure tickets are transferable when buying or selling.

Hi all,

The following events we are currently not allowing trading (swapping, listing or requesting) for.

Political Events - Events of a political or controversial nature are not allowed to be listed. The decision of what qualifies is at the discretion of the site admins. Specific events that qualify will be listed here.
Untransferable Events - Events that have specifically said transfer will not be available are not allowed to be listed. Please be aware there are events we are allowing to be listed that may not have the option to transfer tickets yet, but it is assumed the option will be available in the future. Please see more information on ticket transfer in the following post.

Any topics posted for these events will be removed. Repeated attempts to post topics on these events from a single user will have that user banned. Any sign of attempting to bypass these restrictions on the site will result in a ban.
